We are pleased to show you the most interesting journey to historical town of Portugal Tomar. Our excursion to Tomar consists of visiting main Monastery in Tomar where Temples lived for centuries.

To get to Tomar our drive will take about one hour and a half. We will take a motorway.

The first place to visit will be Tomar - it is a picturesque town situated on the river Nabao where we get acquainted with one of the greatest Monastery of the Order of Christ, which was built by The Templars in XII century. It is the most majestic architectural achievements of Portugal. The great Portuguese sailors and discovers such as Infante D. Henrique (Henry the Great), Goncalves Zarco (discovered Madeira Island), Vasco de Gama (discovered India) and others spent a few years of studying and preparation in the Monastery of the Order of Christ in Tomar.

The Order of Temples was renamed to The Order of the Crist in 1314 in Portugal, Tomar. That famous and strategic decision was made by King of Portugal D. Dinis.

We will approximately spend about two hours visiting the Monastery of Tomar.

After visiting the monastery we can walk around the town through the narrow streets of famous Portuguese Medieval town of Portugal.

For lunch we will stop in a small nice Portuguese restaurant where local food is served.

On the way back we can visit some authentic village such as Obidos where very tasty cheery liquor called GINJA is served in chocolate glass. . It is small and calm town which is famous for its nice villas with characteristic white walls and orange tiled roofs. The abundance of bougainvillea flowers amazes and pleases! As alternative we can visit Monastery of Batalha where in 1385 took place great victorious battle against Spanish.
